How to Develop Your Psychic Abilities
Everyone has some psychic abilities. Hunches, dreams, intuition and that ‘gut feeling’ that something is wrong or ‘off’, are all manifestations of your psychic self. Like any talent though, it needs to be nurtured and developed if it is to grow strong and be useful to you. Here are 5 things you can do to increase your psychic abilities and build on your spiritual growth.
Meditation is one of the best things you can do for increasing your psychic abilities and spiritual life. Meditation CDs are available online from many places (see google), it is a matter of finding one that appeals to you. Following meditation CD are often better for beginners it is much easier to follow a voice than relying on your mind not to be distracted. I personally use Yoga Nidra which is available online from many suppliers. I will be writing a full article about meditation soon, but in the meantime here are a few pointers: Be somewhere you will not be disturbed. Be comfortable, but not in a place or position you would normally fall asleep in. Focus on making your breathing slow and deep. Repeating a phrase like ‘breathe in peace, breathe out love’ in your mind as you breathe will help your mind to quieten and for your body to relax. Don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t work first time or if you have difficulty stopping random thoughts from creeping in – practice makes perfect and you will get more and more out of it as time goes on.
Stress is an epidemic in our society, mostly due to the many pressures and responsibilities we have each day. It is very difficult to hear that inner spiritual voice when your mind is full of lists of things you have to do and problems are going round and round. Taking the time to relax and take your stress levels down to zero will not only make you much healthier and better able to cope with life, but it will also increase the psychic energy in your body and make you more able to hear guidance from your intuition. Whether it is relaxing in a warm bath, walking to clear your mind, gardening, doing crosswords, listening to a relaxation CD or your favourite music; - taking 30 – 60 minutes a day unwinding and getting to a state of calm peace will improve all aspects of your life, especially the psychic and spiritual parts.
Examine Your Dreams
Your dreams are like messages from the subconscious and psychic part of your mind. When you wake up in the morning, try to lie there and remember your dreams from the night before. Think about how you were feeling in the dream, were there any symbols or things that have meaning for you. Who were the people and what were they saying to you. If you can, write them in a journal (see below) to see your dreams change over time and to see how they relate to the events in your life. Relaxation and/or meditation before going to bed can be very helpful in improving both your quality of sleep and the psychic messages in your dreams.
Reading and Talking
Reading books, the internet and meeting like minded people can really open you up to the spiritual and psychic side of the world. Books where people write about their spiritual path can be very inspiring and give you some pointers as to what is right or wrong for you. Seek out online communities based around psychic and spiritual matters and look for groups in your area that are focussed on spiritual growth and psychic development. You may meet new friends to share your spiritual journey with and will definitely find out interesting new information.
Nature is a constant source of inspiration and peace. Whether it is sitting in your garden, local park or going out into the bush; the sounds and energy of nature are very good for helping you tune into the energies of the world and spiritual dimensions. Flowers and pot plants can bring very positive energies into your home – just be sure to remove any dying or sick plant immediately as they are very bad Feng Shui and will bring the positive energy down. Relaxation and meditation in peaceful natural surroundings always seem to be more clear and happy for the soul.
Write a Journal
In your journal, write about the spiritual thoughts and insights you are having. This will help you to track your progress along the spiritual path and is really useful to look back on in future years. There is nothing like seeing how far you have come if you feel stuck or low in motivation. Writing down dreams, especially if they are powerful or confusing, is a great thing to do; as looking back on the dreams in future will help you to understand their significance and what symbols your subconscious mind uses to communicate with you. Using a calendar or diary that has the phases of the Moon included can be good, as often people notice that they are more psychic and intuitive at the full Moon, making this a better time for psychic activities.
